Nurturing new parents and growing families since 2012
ABOUT NATASHA
What is a postpartum doula?
Doula (/ˈduːlə/) is a Greek word that means a woman’s servant. Modern-day doulas are trained, non-medical professionals who provide continuous non-judgmental physical, emotional, and informational support to
mothers or gestational parents before, during, and after childbirth, to facilitate the best possible outcomes.
A Certified Postpartum Doula supports families through the Fourth Trimester—the first 3 months after birth.

What is a lactation counselor?
A Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) provides counseling, education, and support to families who are thinking about breastfeeding or who have questions or problems during the course of lactation. CLCs conduct comprehensive assessments of breastfeeding parent–child relationships and work with families to develop an evidence-based care plan. The aim is to help parents reach their personal breastfeeding goals. For more information, click here.
What are the benefits of postpartum support?
Adapting to life with a newborn takes time, loving-kindness, patience, and, as the ancient wise proverb goes, “a village." Research shows that having a caring group of trusted people to lean on in early parenthood leads to better outcomes, including stronger parent-child bonds, successful breastfeeding, fewer postpartum disorders, lower instances of abuse, and happier families all around. Getting support in contemporary society can be difficult; families are often spread far afield, and self-reliance, rather than communal support, is the norm in our culture. Many partners must return to work just days or weeks after the birth leaving primary caregivers to de facto single-parent during an incredibly challenging time. These parents feel they have no choice but to muddle through by themselves and are more prone to feelings of loneliness, isolation, and greater or lesser postpartum mood disorders.
Postpartum doulas help bridge this gap. They wear many hats on the job: breastfeeding guide, newborn expert, healer, baby wearer, baby whisperer, sleep specialist, sounding board, babysitter, chef, nutrition guide, dog walker, companion, cheerleader, and more! By providing informed, evidence-based advice and guidance, as well as empathy, presence, and nurturing (body and soul), postpartum doula support can help relieve the stresses and strains of growing a family, giving parents the opportunity to focus on bonding with and learning to read and understand their newborn(s).
What motivates Natasha?
The Fourth Trimester is an exciting, vulnerable, and challenging time. After the birth of her second child in 2011, Natasha felt compelled to help change the landscape of postpartum care in America by becoming a postpartum doula and lactation counselor. Her mission: To help families with newborns feel supported, cared for, and confident. She believes this support is essential to the wellbeing of our lives, culture, and the planet. Her goal with every family, much like Mary Poppins, is to work herself out of a job by giving parents, in particular birthing parents, the tools and support they need, physically and emotionally, to connect with their baby(ies), get on their feet, and thrive—long past the Fourth Trimester. In a nutshell, Natasha is the village!
